Health Access, Inc. recently moved back from their temporary location

Health Access, Inc. recently moved back from their temporary location to their newly renovated home at 489 Washington Avenue in Clarksburg after an extensive renovation and pharmacy addition was completed. James Swiger of WYK Associates, Inc. was the project architect and said “it was great to be involved with such a great organization that provides a vital service in our community, their board and executive director are top notch”. The renovation took just over three months to complete at a cost of $274,000. The entire building prior to the renovation was very cramped and inefficient and not ADA friendly.

The renovated area widened existing hallways, increased office and exam room capacity and nearly tripled the size of the waiting room. The addition of the pharmacy made day to day operations much more efficient. The front of the building received a new ADA accessible ramp and front “porch” area to help it blend in with the context of the neighboring houses as well as providing an inviting entry.

Kay Cottrill, President of the Health Access Board, said, “The increasing need for services by those low-income, uninsured patients coming to the free clinic for help prompted the need for the redevelopment of our facility to increase our capacity to see more patients more efficiently.” “WYK’s ‘hand-on’ approach to designing and managing the project made the process not only manageable but very successful.” The Harrison County Chamber of Commerce facilitated an official Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Tuesday, August 17th at Heath Access to recognize the re-opening of the facility in the newly developed clinic space.
